My name is Denise Stirrup and I live in Lincolnshire in the UK.
After experimenting with pressing and creating pressed flower art works for some years, I joined The Pressed Flower Guild. I learned new techniques at workshops and conferences and passed The Pressed Flower Guild's bronze, silver & gold awards. These were followed by Proficiency Awards in many subjects. I am a past President of The Pressed Flower Guild and one of the Guild's judges.
In 2001 I was secretary to the IPFAS conference and exhibition held at the RHS Halls in London.
I have taught at World Wide Pressed Flower Guild conferences in Los Angeles, China, Waterloo in New York State, South Carolina and Philadelphia and also at the 1st Brazil Oshibana Conference in Sao Paulo.
I judged the Pressed Flower Art Classes at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 2018, the 1st Floristic Flower Festival held in St Petersburg Russia in 2019 and for the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild conference in China, 2025, via Zoom.
I have written or edited chapters in several publications : the Judith Blacklock Encyclopaedia of Flower Design; Craft Techniques & Projects; Craft Creation Magazine; Craft Seller Magazine; Country Life Magazine.
I am still learning and enjoy talking to others about how I work. I run workshops and seminars and love showing others how to work with pressed flowers to obtain the best results.
